Ten Schools Selected To Receive DyKnow’s Collaborative Software Grant.
Indianapolis, Ind. – DyKnow® today announces the recipients of ten post-secondary collaborative software grants. Universities and colleges throughout the United States and Canada submitted proposals outlining strategies for leveraging DyKnow’s collaborative software to enhance teaching and learning at their institution. Winners were selected by a team of education advisors. Grant recipients are:
1. Cañada College, Redwood City, CA
2. Columbus State University, Columbus, GA
3. DeVry University, Oakbrook Terrace, IL
4. King’s College, Wilkes-Barre, PA
5. Milwaukee School of Engineering, Milwaukee, WI
6. Murray State University, Murray, KY
7. Parkland College, Champaign, IL
8. Seneca College of Applied Arts and Technology, Toronto, Canada
9. Southeastern Louisiana University, Hammond, LA
10. University of Illinois at Chicago: College of Dentistry, Chicago, IL
The selected schools detailed a variety of intended uses, from extensive mobile classroom projects to restructuring doctoral programs. Dr. Charlotte Briggs, director of curriculum development at University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) College of Dentistry, received a grant and plans to transform traditional lecture-based teaching and learning by using DyKnow to facilitate active learning.
“UIC and other dental schools across North America are engaged in widespread reform to increase active learning,” said Dr. Briggs. “However, due to a long tradition of lecturing and the high cost of clinical education, dental schools are struggling to find ways to economically incorporate small group learning into their biomedical science curricula. DyKnow will allow our instructors to manage multiple small groups at once.”
The post-secondary grants represent just one of the ways DyKnow is providing schools an opportunity to enhance teaching and learning without a financial commitment. Earlier this year the company awarded a number of K12 schools a “DyKnow Classroom” which included the DyKnow Software Suite and related services. Post-secondary grant recipients will receive DyKnow software, server hosting, self-paced Internet training tutorials, deployment strategy consultation, as well as support and product updates.
