Woogi World’s “Every Kid Votes” Campaign Organizing and Mobilizing 2.5 Million Grade-Schoolers To Participate in the Voting Process
Children’s Way Foundation —Wednesday, September 24, 2008
Castro Valley, CA—Sept. 24, 2008—Woogi World™, the academically sound, character-building children’s virtual social site is taking aim at adult apathy in regard to the electoral process. Elementary children nationwide will have the opportunity to go to WoogiWorld.com to learn about the right and responsibility of voting in America. Upon completion of this adventure children will have earned the privilege to cast their ballot for either Senators Barack Obama or John McCain, with the results of this vote aired in the national media.
“We want today’s children to believe they can make a difference. It’s like Thomas Jefferson said, ‘We do not have government by the majority, we have government by the majority who participate,’” said Scott Dow, Founder and CEO of Children’s Way. “With enough experiences such as “Every Kid Votes”, kids could grow up not just understanding America’s freedoms, they’d be ready and willing to protect them!” Dow said.
On Woogi World children learn the importance of being an informed citizen and the responsibilities of voting to sustain democracy. As they engage in the “Every Kid Votes” program, students learn about the voting process and civic responsibility, and in turn will more likely become informed and civic-minded adults who will take an active role in the democratic process.
To drive this program forward, families, teachers, parents and grandparents are going to the site and joining the effort to insure that “Every Kid Votes”. Children’s Way expects at least 100,00 people simply lend their name to the effort by Oct. 5, 2008 – With our relationships in government, we know with the support of 100,000 families we can bring about the change in policy to insure we continue to teach the importance of voting in America to the young.
“We want to help kids understand that America can become an even greater country to live in if everyone just simply participates in the voting process.”
Partnering in the campaign is the academic classroom supplement, “Studies Weekly” and 55k teachers nationwide. “Of the 172 countries that allow voting, the United States ranks 139 in terms of voter turn-out – only 47% of all eligible, registered American voters actually take the time to vote. We’re excited to be part of a program that could actually turn this sad trend around and instill in kids a sense of civic responsibility,” said Ed Rickers, President of Studies Weekly.
